Hong Kong businessman, boosting the development of Buddhism in Hong Kong after WWII
Wong Hok Yan was appointed as one of the Board of Directors by Lady Clara on her last will in 1937. After Lady Clara passed away, he assisted Madam Lam Ling Ching in developing Tung Lin Kok Yuen and Po kok School. Also, he contributed for the establishment of the Wang Fat Ching She Seminary in 1939 and the South China Monastic College in 1949.
During the period of being the board president of Tung Lin Kok Yuen, Wong Hok Yan not only endeavored for the expansion of Po Kok School, e.g. organised several fundraising events for the construction cost, He also assisted in the setting up of other Hong Kong Buddhism organizations, for example, the Hong Kong Buddhism Association and the Heung Hoi Ching Kok Lin She Association after WWII.
