Venerable Fat Ho (1893 – 1972)

Director member of Tung Lin Kok Yuen, the first chairman of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association’s council

Venerable Fat Ho was one of the board members of Tung Lin Kok Yuen. After WWII, Venerable Fat Ho supported the expansion of Po Kok Free School. He was also one of the founders of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association and served as its first chairman of the council. At the initial stage of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association, Tung Lin Kok Yuen provided office space, and even the inauguration ceremony was held at Tung Lin Kok Yuen.

Venerable Fat Ho, who played a significant role in the development of Buddhism in Hong Kong, has been serving as the Abbot of Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island since 1930. To propagate the Dharma in Hong Kong, he succeeded in raising funds to expand and develop the monastery and also donated for the construction of the Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital.
