Exhibition

“Tung Lin Kok Yuen”, the Buddhist monastery located at Happy Valley, which was established in 1935, has been declared as monument in 2017. Lady Clara, the wife of Sir Robert Ho Tung, the founder of Tung Lin Kok Yuen, aimed at promoting the propagation of Buddhist teaching and education services for girls, she established the first free Buddhist school for girls, the “Po Kok Free School” in 1930. To spread Buddhism, Lady Clara set up Po Kok Buddhist Society in 1932, and also the first temple in Hong Kong Island “Tung Lin Kok Yuen” in 1935.

Since 2018, Archives Office of Tung Lin Kok Yuen had organized a series of special exhibition to introduce the history of Tung Lin Kok Yuen to the public. The special exhibition including “Magnificent Vessel of Tung Lin” in 2018, “Together in the Magnificent Vessel We Carry Ashore——Buddhist’s Footprints in Hong Kong Educaion (Episode One and Two) in 2019 and 2020, and “Photo Exhibition of Wang Fat Ching She” in 2022.
